About Green Ackors Landscaping & Irrigation

Brent Ackors asked for a set of hedge clippers for his ninth birthday. He’s a little odd. From that day forward, he has been passionate about a well-kept landscape. That energy and enthusiasm was simply a hobby until he left a career in the grocery business at age 40 to open Green Ackors Landscaping. Some people develop an entrepreneurial itch…Brent had a seizure!

He is a proud graduate of Texas Tech University. With God’s blessings, the help of his wife and countless team members and managers, Green Ackors is now one of the top landscape companies in central Texas. Brent is particularly proud that his very first customer, Pam Lowry is still a loyal and happy client…24 years later. Brent loves to raise puppies, smoke briskets and follow college sports.

Barry Marusak graduated from Tarleton State University in 2011 with a background in Marketing & Landscape Management & Horticulture. He has worked in the golf course industry as well as the landscape industry before starting his career with Green Ackors in 2019. The guidance and knowledge he’s gained from working for Brent and everyone at Green Ackors has propelled him in his quest to know as much as possible about this industry.

One thing Barry likes about his job is that he gets to meet with potential and existing customers to help them solve problems. Barry says the relationships he’s built from working with this company will last a lifetime. Some of his hobbies are hanging out with his two kids and his wife, smoking BBQ, golf, and keeping up with college sports.

Jenn is our highly organized and detail-oriented Office Manager.  She came onboard in February 2024 with a strong background in Accounting, Human Resources, Customer Service and Management.  She brings a vibrant energy and enthusiasm to our company.  Her love for her work shows each and every day as she is constantly learning and striving to increase her areas of responsibility.  Jennifer would tell you that she loves the variety of challenges that she tackles every day and appreciates the recognition and appreciation that the company shows her.  She enjoys cooking, baking, concerts & spending time outdoors.

When he’s not high-fiving fellow team members (this is how excited he gets about plants, customer service, and landscape design) or out and about walking through someone’s garden for a consultation, you can find Benjamin on the sales and marketing team where he is excited to help you solve your issues, ideas, and inspirations, ranging from small needs to grand installations.

With over 15 years of experience, Benjamin began his landscaping career after earning a degree in horticultural studies and landscape management from TSTC. After graduating, Benjamin moved to Austin to take a job as an account manager for a large landscaping firm before eventually running his own small business. Both experiences fueled Benjamin’s fire and passion for being in the landscape industry and he eventually moved back to the Waco area.

Living in China Spring, Benjamin likes to spend his free time hanging out with his daughter, spending time on the river with his dogs or golfing and mountain biking in Cameron Park with friends.

Ociel is from a little town in Mexico called La Victoria, which translates to “The Victory” and he is very proud of where he’s from. He started in the landscape industry when he was 10 years old, tending flower beds in Mexico. He moved to the US and jumped around doing different odd jobs until 2004, when he started working on professional landscape maintenance and really found that this was his passion. He has worked is way up the career ladder from a laborer all the way up to running the lawn care division with Green Ackors Landscaping.

Ociel mentioned one of the things that drives him everyday is making customers happy and seeing his impact from a job well done. He enjoys spending time with his wife and three beautiful daughters. He loves basketball, soccer and eating good food.

Eddie has been with Green Ackors Landscaping since April 2023. He is a retired Army First Sergeant with 26 years of Active-Duty Service. After the military he worked with The Home Depot as an Assistant Store Manager for eight years. He is currently our Shop Manager and is responsible for maintenance of all the equipment and facilities, including procurement of parts/materials and supplies.

He enjoys the ability to find creative ways to solve problems and repair different types of equipment in order to allow the company to produce it’s best result for the customer. In Eddie’s free time, he enjoys riding ATV’s and spending quality time with his family.

James is originally from Houston and has an educational background in horticulture and

landscape design. After the passing of his grandmother, he decided to move to Waco to be

closer to the rest of his family. James has been a key member of our team since starting with

the company in 2020. His current role as plant health manager is key to our company. He holds

his Texas chemical applicators license and is constantly taking continuing education courses to stay up with the ever-evolving industry. James loves what he does and looks forward to the next challenge each day.

With a decade of experience rooted in landscaping, design, and construction project management, Jaquelyn brings a uniquely multifaceted energy to every project she touches. Whether she’s walking a property in boots or sketching out a design in her notebook, she’s all about turning imagination into reality. A big believer in Texas-native landscapes (because why fight nature when you can work with her?), Jaquelyn loves mixing sustainable beauty with unexpected design elements that make properties truly stand out. She’s your go-to for creative solutions, down-to-earth communication, and results that grow on you—literally. 

Devin Pullin, Waco native, brings a deep commitment to quality and customer care in his role as Irrigation Manager at Green Ackors. As a Licensed Irrigator and Licensed Backflow
Prevention Assembly Tester, he combines technical expertise with a passion for conservation to help clients maintain healthy, efficient landscapes.

Since joining Green Ackors, Devin has embraced the company’s culture of excellence and teamwork. He’s passionate about solving problems and finding the right solution for every property, whether it’s a residential system tune-up or a large-scale commercial upgrade. He believes great service starts with good communication and ends with results the customer can see and appreciate.
One of Devin’s favorite parts of the job is building relationships with clients while helping them save water and protect their investment. He’s proud to work with a team that shares the same values of integrity, hard work, and doing things the right way.

Outside of work, Devin is a huge sports fan, especially when it comes to Texas Longhorn
football, the Texas Rangers, and cheering on his son with his wife, Laurynn, in whatever sport
he’s playing. When he gets the chance, he also enjoys a good round of golf and time with family.

Preston’s journey into landscaping began in childhood, planting trees and mowing lawns alongside his father to earn a few bucks to buy fishing supplies. That early connection to this field of work never left him. After graduating high school, he served in the U.S. Army, where even on weekends, he found himself drawn to the outdoors—trimming trees, mulching flower beds, and staying rooted in the work he loved.

In 2020, the same month he was honorably discharged, the COVID-19 pandemic struck. With limited job opportunities and a deep desire to build something meaningful, Preston founded his first landscaping company, Rieger Landscape. His dedication and craftsmanship quickly earned him a reputation as a top-tier hardscaper, leading to the evolution of his business into Ginwood Services LLC.

By 2024, Preston had started a family with his wife and found a new home for his landscaping passion at Green Ackors. Today, that passion continues to grow—driven by integrity, creativity, and a lifelong love for shaping the natural world.

In his free time, you can catch Preston spending time with his wife and two kids, fishing, and keeping up with the Texas A&M football team.

Michael’s love for landscaping was planted early—working in his grandmother’s garden, learning the value of hard work (and pulling more weeds than he cared to count). That early connection to nature and the satisfaction of hands-on labor stayed with him. In 2023, Michael turned that passion into action by launching his own landscaping business, driven by a desire to bring outdoor spaces to life.

Michael joined the Green Ackors team as Landscape Manager, where he thrives on transforming a customer’s vision into a reality—seeing their ideas take shape in real time is what fuels him the most. For Michael, being outdoors, solving problems, and leading with care are part of the everyday reward.

At home, Michael is a husband and father with a loyal dog named Daisy by his side. He enjoys fishing, hunting with family, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and Ole Miss Rebels.
