Landscape Maintenance FAQ's
Do your teams speak English?
There will always be an English-speaking team member on every crew.
Do you give free estimates?
If you accept our proposal, there is no fee. Most estimates take less than an hour. Beyond an hour, we consider this a consultation and we will bill this at an hourly rate. Those fees will be waived if you accept our proposal.
Will I have the same team every week?
Our teams want to know you and your property. I’m sure you want to see familiar faces, as well. We strive to keep the same teams on their routes every week. A qualified and experienced team member will fill in for vacations, sick days, etc. from time to time.
Why do I need 42 trips a year?
We want your place to look fantastic throughout the year. As seasons change, different tasks become important. The basic 42-visit schedule puts us on your property every week from April until the end of October…and every other week from November until the end of March. This schedule assures that we manage the debris and leaves that fall during the winter months. Look at your neighbors homes. If they are covered up in leaves, they are not using us.
How do I make my payments?
We accept checks, Venmo and credit cards...and cookies.
Do you offer any discounts?
We offer senior citizen, military and first responder discounts. These vary based on the services you need. We will be happy to elaborate.
What type of equipment do you use?
Our tools and equipment are manufactured by the best commercial brands. We have it all -- small mowers, huge mowers, tillers, trenchers, skid steers, blowers, etc. NOTE: We never use big mowers on small yards.
What happens if it rains on my service day?
After we finish doing our celebratory rain dance, we revise our schedules. We have videos of Barry…(he can’t dance, but he thinks he can. Don’t say anything.) If we can’t service your property due to weather issues, we will be there the next day that weather permits. If that delay becomes longer than one day, we will be in touch with a revised schedule. Please let us know if you prefer text, phone calls or emails.
Landscape Design Build FAQ's
What do you charge for a design?
If you accept our proposal, there is no fee. Most estimates take less than an hour. Beyond an hour, we consider this a consultation and we will bill this at an hourly rate. Those fees will be waived if you accept our proposal.
If I select your company, when can you start?
Our schedules fluctuate throughout the year. Your specific time frame will be discussed with your sales rep and we will do our absolute best to stick to that schedule.
What should I look for in a landscape contractor?
Oh my. My favorite topic.
- Never hand money to anyone you don’t trust.
- Never agree to a deal that you don’t fully understand.
- If you get the willies…run.
- Ask to see some of their recent work.
o Good contractors love to show off.
o Bad ones “won’t have time.”
- Ask your friends, neighbors and relatives about anyone they have used.
- Read reviews. Don’t believe them all but read about your choices.
- Beware of “lists” that promise to send the right people to you:
o These contractors pay to be on the “list.” That’s how the “lists” make money.
o First place costs more.
o Don’t fall for that.
o Rely on reviews and real people who have used the contractor.
What is your warranty on plants?
We guarantee everything 90 days. If you hire us to take care of your property, you will receive one full year of warranty. Alligator damage is not covered.
Do you use subcontractors?
All our work is guaranteed. At times, we will utilize the expertise of a subcontractor to help us perform certain tasks. Your guarantee remains the same. If a subcontractor is on your property, you will be treated with the same care and respect as if they were our own team members. We are very picky with our subs.
Who will supervise the project?
We use a handoff method. Your salesperson will introduce you to the manager who will oversee the project to completion. You will meet lots of us, but those two will be your key contacts.
What if I do some of the work myself?
We charge more. Lots more. Chuckle. Truthfully, those arrangements rarely work out well. Most people “think” they know how to do what we do. Most do not. We end up correcting their mistakes. You should simply sit back and relax. We will take care of everything.
Can you maintain the landscape once you are finished installing?
We absolutely LOVE to take care of landscapes…especially if it is one of our installations. God creates the plants. He asks us to take great care of them.
General FAQ's
How will my services be scheduled?
During your first appointment, we will provide an estimated time frame for your project. This will be determined based on geography, scope of work, size of the project and first-come, first-serve.
Are you insured?
Insurance is one of our largest expenses. We rarely need to use it, but we are covered if anything happens. Workers comp, General Liability and Commercial Auto policies are in place 365 days a year. (366 on leap years…and I’m sure we get charged for that extra day…chuckle.)
Do I have to be home when you do the work?
No, but it is nice to be able to reach you while we are on the job. Questions always arise and we love to send photos and text, email or call you if there is something that can’t wait until the end of the day. The project manager will always give you an update at the end of each day.
Who do I call when I have a question?
You will get to know many of us. Your primary person for questions will be the Landscape Manager, Irrigation Manager or Lawn Care Manager…depending on the type of work. This will become clear once you accept our proposal.
Lawn Care FAQ's
What materials do you use, and are they safe for my lawn and family/pets?
We believe in an integrated system that uses the least amount of product necessary to do the job. Our families and pets deserve to be safe and protected. As a dog breeder, I know the importance of keeping our fur babies safe. We use a combination of organic and conventional products to solve weed, insect, disease and fungus controls. Communication will be the key to your peace of mind. We will always let you know when we are coming to make sure it is convenient for you and your family.
How long do we need to stay off the lawn after an application?
It varies, but you will receive specific instructions. Some granular products need to be watered in. You will be asked to do so overnight. It will be safe for everyone in the morning. Most liquid products need to be allowed to dry before walking on them. We will always give you proper instructions.
How soon can I mow after an application?
If we are applying products to your lawn, we are likely your mowing crew, as well. In this case, we schedule accordingly. If you mow your own, we will leave instructions.
What if it rains right after an application?
We watch the weather forecasts closely. If rain is imminent, we don’t spray liquids that need dry time. We wait. If heavy rain is coming, we do nothing…so the products are not washed off into the storm drains.
Do you provide lawn care year-round?
YES! In fact, we only provide annual packages that keep your place looking good year-round. We want your place looking its best every week, all year.
Tree & Plant Health Care FAQ's
How often do my plants get fertilized?
We have specific packages that are designed for certain landscapes. No two yards are the same. We also respect your budget – you might prefer our GOLD package, our SILVER package or our BRONZE package. We will be happy to explain the differences to you.
What are the benefits of plant health care?
Appropriate watering is one key to healthy plants. Proper nutrition is the second. All plants are different, which is why you can relax when you hire us. We have spent a large amount of time over the past 24 years, learning how to properly care for trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals and sod. Your assignment – sit back and admire.
